“Social interaction, it appeared, was surprisingly expensive.”
Carousing covers a workweek of fine food, strong drink, and socializing. Carousing takes 5 days and choice of 10gp, 50gp or 250gp.
A character can attempt to carouse among lower (10gp), middle (50gp), or upper-class folk (250gp & access to local nobility.) A character can carouse with the following classes, covering all associated expenses for the entire work week using either CHA ability of Persuasion or Deception.
-
- An aristocratic lifestyle must be paid (10gp/day) in addition of the 250gp to socialize with the noble class.
- Alternatively, a character may use a disguise kit and the Deception skill to pass as a noble visiting from a distant city.
Features, spells and items are allowed to be used. Lifestyle is not needed to pay as the carousing downtime cost will cover all fees.
| Check Total | Result |
|---|---|
| 1-5 | Character has made a hostile contact. |
| 6-10 | Character has made no new contacts. |

To Attempt Carousing:
-
- State the class status in #downtime-log with all features prefaced BEFORE rolling, the character will attempt.
- Proceed to roll the following. Proficiency and use of a disguise kit will give access to contacting with the upper-class upon lack of noble background.
- Persuasion.
- Deception.
- See the check total table for outcome of the rolls.
- Roll for the chance of complication.
- If the result is a 1 on a d10 or 1-10 on d100, refer to the section below.
Complications: Characters who carouse risk bar brawls, accumulating a cloud of nasty rumors, and building a bad reputation around town. Refer to the appropriate complication table below to determine the complication.
- When a complication is triggered, please ping Dungeon Master.
*Involves a rival. Rivals give -1 to all checks involving the next downtime activity performed by that character.
